Those of you old enough to remember the odd couple will know what I am referring to. Tom Raftery and Adam Beecher have joined forces to form a new data centre in Cork. Operating under the name of CIX or Cork Internet eXchange the new data centre that was first announced to the world at BarCamp will is moving along nicely with diesel generator tests ongoing (although power washer tests might be in order as well)
Apparently Tom is going to blog about the ongoing developments, so it will be interesting to keep up with this especially for me as I have twice gone far down the route of either creating or renting a data centre and on both occasions written it off in favour of hiring space in the UK and the US. Although I will be on the look out for another 8 racks worth of space sometime this summer as a current project matures with monster bandwidth requirements. Hint hint.
Perhaps Tom will update the BarCamp page as well?
There are 4 people involved in total and apparently two of the are “grumpy feckers”. Knowing that Tom and Adam are sweetness and light personified I can only assume the Podge and Rodge are on board as well. ![]()

Of course I can see the similarities between myself and Jack Klugman's character so I guess that makes Adam Tony Randall?
