Banner ads?

I'm trying out banner ads on single page view of posts and normal link ads on the summary pages. I think it looks naff* but I'll leave it for a week and see how it works out. A few people have asked is adsense worth it, am I making money with it and how do you declare the earnings?

Is it worth it - Aside from the initial setup messing it doesn't cost anything so from that point of view, yes it does. If you take in the whole prostituting your blog argument then probably not.

Am I a gazillionaire from adsense - No. But it has covered the cost of a high end hosting package that supports a few other sites such a businessadvisory.ie, clonard.org etc so from that point of view it's been a worthwhile project.

How do you declare the earnings - No idea, money gets paid straight to the company and the accountant treats it as just another incoming cheque and posts it on the debit side with the hosting costs offsetting it on the credit side I guess.

I see Michele is looking for people who make real money from adsense advertising. Does Michele also run Monetise.it? Michele also runs Monetise.it

   I reckon less than 1% of the people that read my blog need my services. The rest of them could have the decency to click on ad now and then so I get some money out of the visit :-)

   I agree Adam hence the "I think it looks naff* " comment but I'll leave them on for 24-48 hours and see what if any difference it makes.
   
   If it's stupid and it works it isn't stupid type of approach. :D

    You've got plenty of screen real estate that isn't being used - so you may want to look at that.
    
    Have a look at what other people are doing and how they are doing it
