Damien posted a link to David Hollingworth’s brand spanking new blog and a write up of ShareIT.
One factoid grabbed my attention.
However I will say that one of the points that most of the presenters put across was the importance of blogging to increase your (my) presence on the web. So here we are!
Note: I’m not having a go at David, more the notion put forward by anyone about how important blogging is in a business environment.
I think that perception of blogging indicates the general types of people and industries who are blogging in Ireland. I fully agree that if you are a PR, Media or customer facing company blogging may help. If you are not that type of company, how exactly does blogging help?
Why is so important for a farmer or a taxi driver or a manufacture of components to blog. More and more I am getting he feeling that business orientated blogging is a clique of people who are in similar industries, trying to achieve similar publicity and are writing for a similar audience.
It’s becoming a bit of a club. The same people at the same events saying the same thing. It’s one of the reasons I think ShareIT is a good thing. Get disparate people and businesses together that suffer from similar problems and gain new insights.
To stop ShareIT from becoming another venue for the “In Club”, different people need to attend, interact and network. So if you are a small business or start up who doesn’t give two figs whether blogging is good or bad, or even cares about blogging and are busy making your own way in the world, give ShareIT a try.
You may not agree with the speakers but you’ll get to meet some other people, make contacts and diversify the points of view present at the informal chats afterwards.
