Thanks to Adam for the news that K.I.T.T. is up for sale. For those of you way too young to remember Knight Rider, K.I.T.T was a car and more intelligent that the starring actor “The Hoff” who went on the flex his muscles on Baywatch. K.I.T.T. was an ultra cool Pontiac Trans AM with all sorts of techno gadgets (at the time). Most of these gadgets you now find in modest luxury cars, well except the power boost button that ignited a rocket.
Personally if I had a choice of famous cars I’d go for the Firebird from Smoky and the Bandit or Steve McQueen’s Bullitt, a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback. Even the Dodge Charger the bad guys were driving wasn’t bad.
As an aside, a stupid bit of trivia. In Bullitt the stunt driver on the bike that is laid down in the middle of the chase scene is the same guy who did the bike stunts in The Great Escape with Steve McQueen.
If you haven’t seen Bullitt go forth and rent hire or buy it. Fast forward to about an hour and turn the sound up. If you have base speakers turn them up. Then sit back and watch nearly 10 minutes of automobile porn. If that doesn’t do it for you then watch these.
Seeing as I mentioned a power boost button, I’m wondering what are people’s opinions on power chipping a turbo diesel engine. From what I have read as long as you service the car well or even better service that car more often it should be fine. Has anyone used one of these and what are the pros and cons.
